The New MAGA Aesthetic

Two months ago (March 2022), a new political meme was born: “DARK MAGA”. DARK MAGA made the rounds throughout social media–Twitter, Instagram, etc.–& spawned numerous versions of this meme.

Before we go further, we all know the famed slogan of the Trump presidential campaign in 2016: MAGA=”Make America Great Again”. Of course, MAGA is such a well-known phrase at this point. Among conservatives, the slogan “MAGA” evokes images of Trump supporters dancing to the YMCA and Boomers waving the American flag at Trump rallies.

Simply put, the slogan “MAGA” emanated more of a fun-loving, 1980s-esque aura. That all changed after the 2020 election.

Trump’s “loss” in the 2020 Presidential election created a new take on the MAGA movement:

Now, what is DARK MAGA?

DARK MAGA is a new take on the MAGA movement. It refers to the darker, vengeful mindset that Trump will have once he becomes president again in 2024.

In this frame, Trump will remember all of the traitors, “Disloyal R’s”, and backstabbers for their disloyalty.

Unfortunately, so many people turned their backs on our beloved President after the 2020 election & the January 6th protests. So many politicians, organizations, and media personalities made lots of money/fame off of the Trump movement for between 2015 and 2020. Yet when President Trump needed them most after the 2020 election, most were nowhere to be found.

Politicians like Nikki Haley, Kevin McCarthy, Bill Cassidy (my US Senator), Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney, and many more used Trump for their political gain & betrayed him when they thought Trump was politically useless after January 2021.

The picture below is a perfect representation of the “DARK MAGA” aesthetic.

Undoubtedly, this meme is a darker aesthetic/look on the MAGA movement. On a side note, the recent Batman movie seems to have partially inspired this meme’s dark, red-and-black backdrop.

Thankfully, Trump’s political career did not dissolve in January 2021. However, Trump spent several months after the 2020 election brooding over the results. He was definitely bitter about the results and the disloyalty that many Republicans “allies” showed him in late 2020/early 2021.

Since Trump’s political aspirations appear far from over, we can look at the “DARK MAGA” to give us a taste of what’s in store in 2024.

A Look to 2024

Now, all indicators show that President Trump is planning another Presidential run in 2024. With how unfavorable Joe Biden is right now, it’s say to safe that Trump is poised to serve a second term in 2024. A lot can happen between now and 2024, but that’s the situation as it stands currently.

If Trump were to become President in 2024, I can promise this: Trump will learn from his mistakes in the 1st administration. Trump will not fill his administration with establishment staffers and advisors. Trump will remember those who were disloyal to him at the end of his first administration.

At this point, I foresee DARK MAGA as being inevitable. Trump won’t make the same mistakes again. He will be back, and he will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

To close this post, I included a brief video that captures the DARK MAGA aesthetic. I am excited about what a potential 2nd Trump admin would entail!
