Based Conservatives?
Hold up, what does being “based” mean? My non-Gen Z audience might not understand the slang of Gen Z conservatives. So, I’ll provide a definition.
According to the Urban Dictionary, the definition of “based” is: “A word used when you agree with something; or when you want to recognize someone for being themselves, i.e. courageous and unique or not caring what others think. Especially common in online political slang.”
More specifically, a “based” conservative is not your typical Fox News-conservative talking points. No, being “based” means that one truly embraces conservative positions. You’re not afraid to endorse policies that actually benefit ordinary Americans—not just global corporations.
In short, a “based conservative” doesn’t shill for Wall Street, multi-national corporations, or the Cato Institute. No, you just care about preserving our nation and the American family over and above what Conservative Inc. tells you to care about.
The Platform of a Based Conservative
Without further ado, here are several “based” conservative positions:
1. Banning Pornography
This one will annoy Libertarians. But, hear me out.
Pornography has significantly contributed to the destructions of masculinity in modern America. All evidence out there shows that pornography has severely negative effects for viewers.
Here is a super-informative video about the issues that Porn causes:
Internet Porn has made the past few generations of American men weaker and less ambitious. Many young men have erectile dysfunction and poor social skills around women just as consequence of watching porn. Moreover, Internet Porn is a highly addictive product. It’s just as addictive as hardcore drugs, and it literally changes the human brain for the worse.
Now, people who defend their porn usage are just coping. Defending one’s degenerate behavior instead of owning up to it is by definition a form of coping.
I’m tired of seeing disgusting pornographers destroy countless men from my generation. That’s why I believe that America needs anti-pornography legislation enacted. Pornographic filmmakers should receive jail time for distributing pornographic content on the Internet. We need to help our young men by decimating the Internet Porn industry.
2. Making English the Official Language of the United States
It’s long past time to make English the Official Language of the United States. Americans speak English. A functioning nations needs a single language to be spoken. Were nations in the Balkans unifireid by their lingual diversity? Is India a coherent country with hundreds of different dialects within its borders? No, and no.
The federal government should mandate that English is the official language of the United States. Also, all government business and documentation should take place in English. This position is not about banning other languages in the United States. It’s just about solidifying a shared tradition among the American people: the English language.
3. Breaking Up Big Tech
Personally, I changed my mind about “trust-busting” Big Tech back in January 2021. After Twitter and Facebook banned the duly elected Predsient of the United States (Donald J. Trump), I finally realized that Big Tech has become too powerful.
Google, Facebook, Amazon, and Twitter have gained monopolistic control over the United States economy. Standard Oil has nothing on these companies when it comes to how powerful they have become.
Those four companies have become more powerful than the Federal Government due to a provision in the 1996 United States Communications Decency Act—called Section 230. Private Individuals cannot sue Facebook and Twitter because those companies are considered “platforms” instead of publishers. Individuals cannot sue these companies for censoring content on their platforms due to this legislation.
A first step in stopping these companies from erasing conservatism is to repeal Section 230. This idea has been floated around a little bit in the past. Unfortunately, this idea has never gained traction in Congress because Big Tech has bought out many Republican politicians.
4. Ending No-Fault Divorce
This position is pretty simple. No-Fault Divorce means that a married couple can divorce each other for no reason at all.
Fun fact, Ronald Reagan was the first governor in America to legalize no-fault divorce in 1969–as governor of California. Supposedly, Reagan later admitted that supporting no-fault divorce was the worst mistake of his political career. That take is spot on. Divorce skyrocketed once no-fault divorces were allowed. Since 1969, no-fault divorce became a reality throughout the whole nation.
Pre 1969, married couples had to go to court and give a reason or “fault” for divorce. Common acceptable reasons for divorce were adultery, abuse, and abandonment.
Sure, the divorce system wasn’t perfect back in the day. But, the state of the American family is pretty terrible. Ending no-fault divorce is a good first step in preserving the American family.
5. Outlawing Flag Burning
Burning the American flag should not be a protected form of free speech. Plain and simple
I don’t care that the Supreme Court ruled that flag burning is a form of free speech in Texas vs. Johnson (1989).The Supreme Court has made numerous poor decisions in the past—Plessy vs. Ferguson, Roe v. Wade, etc. So, that case is just another example of a Superme Court decisions that ought to be overturned.
In the last year-and-a-half, state and local governments in the United States have forced citizens to wear masks in public. How is choosing to not wear a piece of cloth on my face not a form of protected speech—but burning the American flag is? In my mind, there’s definitely an inconsistency here
