The Tin Can Conservative

A Patriot's Musings on Culture, History, Politics, and Faith

What A Time!

A few weeks ago, I attended the 2022 Student Action Summit (SAS)–the famed Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Conference in Tampa, Florida. Over 5,000 conservative students and political activists descended on Tampa for this annual gathering of the top leaders, influencers, and thinkers of the MAGA movement.

This year’s conference was my 3rd time attending SAS–going back to when SAS 2020 in December 2020 and SAS 2021 in July 2021. So, I attended my fair share of TPUSA conferences before. However, I can honestly say that SAS 2022 has been my favorite political conference to-date.

SAS 2022 was extremely fast-paced and action-packed for myself, so I am grateful to share my experience with blog’s loyal readers.

The Conference Itself

The conference itself lasted three days–from Friday afternoon through Sunday mid-day. In just these few days, there were so many memorable moments throughout SAS that I could write about it all day. Consequently, I’ll stick to the highlights of SAS 2022 for this blog post.

The conference boasted scores of high-powered speakers in the conservative movement–including politicians, political pundits, and conservative media figures. Some of the top speakers at SAS 2022 were President Donald Trump, Governor Ron DeSantis, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor-Greene (MTG), Congressman Matt Gaetz, Senator Rick Scott, Senator Josh Hawley, Don Trump Jr., Greg Gutfeld, Pete Hesgeth, James O’Keefe, and many more.

Personally, my favorite speakers were MTG, Matt Gaetz, President Trump, and Eduardo Bolsonaro–the son of Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro. All four of these speakers hit on different aspects of the Chrisitan nationalist, America First agenda in their speeches. Similarly, MTG’s speech was particularly notable because she highlighted the importance of “Christian nationalism” within the conservative movement. Of course, a bunch of Liberals lost their minds on social media and in the news media over MTG’s speech.

President Trump’s speech was one of the top highlights of the entire conference. His two-hour speech was an absolute barn-burner. It was filled with his customary wit, with funny stories, and with culture-war rhetoric.

I was absolutely mesmerized for Trump’s whole speech to the point that I stood for his whole speech–as a sign of respect. I am so grateful to have finally heard a Trump speech in-person, and President Trump has my fully and complete loyalty!

The MAGA KING himself!

While the speakers at SAS were solid, my favorite aspect of the conference had more to do with getting to hang out with my fellow young conservatives. Honestly, there’s nothing better than hanging out with a bunch of Trump-loving, MAGA patriots for an entire weekend.

This year’s iteration of SAS was an interesting combo for myself. Simply put, I met both a lot of new people and reconnected with old friends at this conference.

Now that I’ve gone to Turning Point conferences for a few years, I’ve made a lot of connections with people from all over the country–from my Run Gen Z friends to my ol’ TCU TPUSA chapter friends. On the other hand, I also met a lot of America First patriots who’ve talked to online but had never met before in-person. So, it was quite a pleasure finally meeting some legendary people in the America First movement “in real life”–from Badan to King Knub and everyone else in-between.

Some Highlights

Now that I gave a primer of the conference, I wanted to include some highlights from this conference. Enjoy!

-Going out dancing at the Dallas Bull dance hall. If you don’t know already, I am a huge fan of dancing to country music. Thankfully, a few friends of mine from Run Gen Z got together and went to a local country music dance hall on the 2nd night of the conference.

-Meeting several Generation Z/”America First” movement figures on Day 1 of SAS. I finally had the chance to meet several America First influencers/media figures at the conference. It was so hype meeting these guys in-person–including guys like Badan, King Knub, Digeridoo Nationalism, AJ Wilms, Mr. Sves, and more!

-Learning from my friend Albert. My buddy Albert from Wisconsin was probably the “most based person” at SAS–a high compliment in my book. He vastly expanded my understanding of conservative policy and made me laugh a good bit too. So, he deserves a big shoutout!

-Meeting conservative comedian Alex Stein and the editor of the Current Revolt conservative magazine. Alex Stein is already an absolute legend in the conservative movement. So, I am thankful that I got to briefly chat with him and take a picture with him too!

-Doing an interview with Next News Network reporters Aldo Buttazzoni and Tayler Hansen. Aldo and Tayler are both rising stars in the Conservative media sphere, so I am excited to see the impact they will keep making in the years to come.

-Doing a “Meet-and-greet” with Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. MTG is a true “America First” patriot, and I am grateful to have briefly chatted with her–besides taking a picture with her too. Additionally, MTG gave an amazing speech–where she talked about how we needed more “Christian nationalists”. If you couldn’t tell, her speech absolutely pumped me up.

-I mentioned in a post last week that made a Fox News interview on the first day of the conference. Here’s the link to the Fox News video that I appeared in for anyone interested.

-I also gave an interview with CBS News. To my knowledge, CBS did not air my interview–probably because they didn’t want to platform an articulate conservative like myself haha. My friend did a post a picture from this interview, so I thought that I’d share it.

Closing & Pictures

Overall, I immensely enjoyed SAS 2022! I appreciated all the hard work that the TPUSA staff put into this conference, and I look forward to seeing my fellow patriots again sometime soon. Just remember: America First is inevitable!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post, and I wish you the absolute best. God Bless!
