Another Year for the Books
With Christmas Day now past, the year is coming to a close. 2021 is on the way out, and 2022 is fast approaching.
Last year, one of my earliest blog posts was a “review of 2020“. I also made a similar post highlighting the “Winners and Loser of 2020”.
Looking back, both of those posts were pretty fun to write. So, I made the executive decision to make a similar post for 2021. A lot of stuff happened this year–both personally and societally; so I think it’ll be a fruitful exercise to reflect on the latest year.
The first half-of-the post will be my run-down of what happened in 2021. Then, I’ll close off this post will my “Winners and Losers” of this past year.
A Run-down of 2021
Going into 2021, a lot of people were hopeful that 2021 would go more smoothly than 2020. I hate being right, but all of the trends from 2020 still continued into 2021.
That naïve optimism was shot down fairly quickly.
The January 6th protests rocked the nation. The media quickly pounced on the situation and framed the narrative. Trump supporters at the Capitol were now called “domestic terrorists”. Also, any questioning of the 2020 election became threats to “democracy”. Truly “Information warfare” at its finest.
What’s better is that reporter Darren Beattie from Revolver discovered that Fed informants (e.g. Ray Epps) were likely the ones responsible for starting the January 6th break-in of the Capitol.
A week after January 6th, President Donald Trump became the 1st ever president to have been impeached twice. He also got banned on every single major social media platform. We sure will miss his tweets.
After President Trump’s impeachment, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. Things went downhill pretty quickly afterward.
From the Afghanistan debacle to high inflation, America became more of a joke on the world stage in 2021. I won’t get into much more detail. However, the emergence of the “F*ck Joe Biden” and “Let’s go Brandon” chants during the fall of 2021 shows just how unlikable Joe Biden has become in the USA.
Moving on, plenty of strange events happened in 2021. One that really caught my attention in January/February 2021 was the GameStop stock saga. In just a one month span, GameStop’s stock price went from $20 to over $320 and back down to $50 (from mid-January to mid-February 2021). Its stock price at the end of the year is 2021 hovering around $150. Not too shabby.
In February 2021, a major winter-storm (dubbed “Uri”) wrecked a large section of the country–especially the state of Texas. Who says that it never gets cold in Texas?
On a broader note, supply chain issues and staffing shortages continued to hamper the American economy throughout the whole year. Welcome to American in 2021. The economic land of inflation, shortened hours, and stock-outs.
On a spiritual note, American culture witnessed the open embrace of literal satanism. From the Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoes to Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, there’s a concerning trend of this garbage getting pushed into the mainstream culture. Heck, even the Satanic Temple recently weighed in on the Texas abortion law. Now, most people probably will chalk that up as a “nothing-burger”, but I would say that something more is going on here in my humble opinion (read Ephesians 6:12).
Of course, we have to discuss COVID-19 before ending the “Review of 2021”
Undoubtedly, COVID-19 has become the new “Forever War”. The goalposts have continued to shift when it comes to government policies concerning the “Pandemic”.
At first, our overlords told us to “get fully vaccinated and everything will go back to normal”.
Then the saying became “getting your booster shots and everything will go back to normal”.
Now, we’ve gotten to the point where “you now need to wear a mask again even if you’ve been fully vaccinatted & boosted. Also, you’ll lose your job if you don’t get the booster, and your adoloscent children have to get vaccinated.
Well, that eslaclated quickly. The slippery is not a fallacy … it’s real.
In the video below, this gym-bro from Canada pretty much predicted everything that would happen in 2020 and 2021.
I will say that one positive development to come out of COVID is that a ton of people got “redpilled”. That means a lot of people were “awakened” to the governmental and corporate tyranny we’ve witnessed in the last year-and-a-half.
That being said, 2021 was a rough year in numerous ways, but fear not! Christ is king!
Even though things aren’t looking too rosy in the short-term, I have reason to believe that things will improve in the long-term. I have been blessed to meet many patriotic young men and women in this past year. They are the reason as to why I am quite optimistic about the long-term prospects of our nation/society. These Gen Z conservatives (“based Zoomers”) will positively impact our country in the coming years, and I am excited to see how all that will turn out.
