It’s been a Rough Go
Good Morning, and Happy Thanksgiving to you–a loyal Tin Can Conservative reader.
I know we’re all going through a tough time right now in America. Inflation is rampant, shortages are abundant, and COVID-19 vaccine mandates are the norm. As I like to say, “the boys are down bad!”
All of those issues are very real. I will not deny that fact. We–the conservative/America 1st movement–have plenty of work to do for years to come.
In spite of what’s ahead, today is good day to not worry about the future of our country and our civilization. We all need a day to give thanks for the here and now–namely what God has blessed us with yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
That’s the joy of Thanksgiving. In my opinion, it’s such an important holiday for Americans and Christians alike. Giving thanks to God is such a major key to a satisfied, well-adjusted life.
So, enjoy this wonderful holiday. Spend time with your family, give Thanks to God, and take one day off in terms of worrying about our country’s future.
As bad as things have gotten in this country, I still thank God that I live in this time and place. May he raise up a strong generation of young men and women to magnify Christ and to bring back traditional Christian America.
Scripture passages about Thanksgiving
For this post, I wanted to close with several Scripture passages about giving thanks:
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.” Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.” –1 Chronicles 16:34-36
“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” –Psalm 95:1-3
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” –Philippians 4:4-7
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” –Colossians 3:15-17
