The Tin Can Conservative

A Patriot's Musings on Culture, History, Politics, and Faith

How It Started

It’s been a journey, but we’re finally here. It’s been a full year since I started the Tin Can Conservative blog.

Before I launched this blog in December 2020, I had thought about starting a blog for the past few years. However, I never got around to it until after the COVID-19 “pandemic” hit.

My fall semester (2020) ended before Thanksgiving last year, so I had a lot of time on my hands during my 6 week Winter break. At that time, I distinctly remember writing in my personal journal in early December 2020 about my desire to start a political/cultural commentary blog.

After doing some research about blogging, I finally took the plunge and purchased a 1-year subscription/domain with Bluehost in December 2020. Then, I published my 1st ever post on this blog on December 11, 2020.

It’s also cool to see how much my writing/content has improved in the last year. Writing is definitely something that takes practice. Nevertheless, I feel that I’ve “come into my own” in terms of writing for this blog.

Now, let’s go over a brief overview of the blog’s 1st year and then close with some of my favorite posts from Year 1 of the blog.

A True Milestone

In year 1 of the Tin Can Conservative, this blog has posted loads of content: with nearly 90 blog posts coming in just one year. Moreover, the articles on this blog have covered a wide variety of topics–from American History to cultural commentary & Christianity to political memes.

Additionally, the viewership of this blog has grown significantly in in the last several months. For the past few months, this blog has averaged 200-300+ views per month. That’s a far cry from where I started this blog–when I definitely averaged way less than 100 views-a-month.

Also, the top two post on this blog have over 170 views each:

1. Jonathan Isaac: NBA player standing up for Christ (180+ views)

2. A Podcast & a Conference: the 2021 CCLE Conference (170+ views)

I am so grateful that people actually read this blog. In my opinion, I truly believe that this blog posts some solid content, but solid content doesn’t necessarily equate to views/website traffic.

Also, I can honestly say that this blog has been so much fun for me in the last year. It’s been a nice creative outlet for myself, and I hope that it’s helped you–my loyal reader–as well. Here’s to another year here on the Tin Can Conservative blog!
